NEGOTIATION AS AN ECONOMIC PROCESS

A seminar to update negotiators in international economic conflicts

Most of you are experienced negotiators. An update of your knowledge and skills should be very specific.

Negotiating in the context of economy does not necessarily mean to negotiate along lines of thought of the economy. But people who spend their working live in economy, will presumably find an easier access to negotiation if it can be explained along laws of economy, and their clients in their turn will be more convinced of the negotiation process if it can be explained to them in terms of economy. Games theory provides the link to economic research and explains some of the seemingly paradox behaviors of your clients.

Mediation comes into it with some of its skills and thoughts (not as an entire process), since WWN negotiation assignments, as a rule, will be cross-border assignments with all their potential for cross cultural obstacles. Mediators hold the best virtues to overcome such obstacles.

WWN offers you a one-day workshop (starting Thursday afternoon and continued Friday morning) on negotiation as an economic process. Within the unique WWN negotiation model, it offers you several variants, that you will choose according to the constellations of interests that you find in the case. A number of cases will support you to check on your own practice. Together with the participants, the teachers will integrate aspects of regional interest from the host country, Marocco.

Dirk Splinter and Wilfried Kerntke are both mediators and mediation teachers, experienced in conflicts between organizations both on national and international level (see the website of their institute: www.inmedio.de). Together, they have solved a number of seemingly unsolvable cases. They will hold the seminar in English, with support provided for all participants from non English speaking backgrounds.

The seminar is open also to non WWN members.

WWN members:  seminar fee is included in  WWN 2009 membership.

Non members: seminar fee is 120,00 euro. You are kindly asked to pay said fee at the desk, upon their check in for the seminar.
